Sidepipes on the FC. How do you fell about them?

Damn it, if a mod reads this can you fix the title of this thread and delete this sentence, it should say "Feel". Thanks.

Hey Guys,

Sidepipes are something I've been thinking about for a while. My GTUs is still and N/A and I've slowly been getting it ready to do track days since I don't have money for a racecar and realize it.

Right now for the exhaust I have a pacesetter header into a broken presilencer that exits through a dual motoria exhaust(Similar to N1's or Corksport). Before it broke, I liked the way it sounded, and didn't mind the noise because the car isn't driven very much.

I like the idea of sidepipes because I don't want flashy aero. I'll probably just go with a lip, Wide fenders G35 rear mudflaps and a large spoiler(RE-A, or some type of whale tail)

I have a RB true dual header sitting in my shed, and black sidepipes are pretty cheap. I'm thinking about just having a shop go left and right off of the header and 90 into the sidepipes. Probably 2" or 2.5", I'll have them work out flanges or flex sections to allow for engine movement.

Here is the car now, I'm about to put chrome 17x9 cobra wheels on it, and maybe lower it a little more. Paint is later, before you say my paint sucks. It's the N/A GTUs, not the Turbo(Which I will sell). Sorry for the chessy pic, I took it with my phone.

Here is the only other FC I've seen with side pipes. They are 2".

What do you guys think about it?

The black one looks good. It matches the body well. Any other colour may be etchy. If it were mine id make my accents black and run a black front splitter about as low as the side pipes. Now what about the rear?

They look pretty tight, you should do a test fit and see how they look.

see, i would only say dont do it for 1 reason: rotaries get stupid ******* hot, and that exhaust, if it isnt made with nicer material (stainless for instance) then its either going to sound like total ******* ****, melt whatever is around it, melt the actual exhaust, or just burn the **** out of you when you forget its there (shelby cobra anyone?)
id say just go with a good header to tail pipe bolt on exhaust: apexi, greddy, etc

I'm gonna just have to say no. Only exhaust pipe that should dump out the side of an rx7 is a wastegate dump.

I actually like them on that black car.

Just think it would make the back bumper look silly

The back bumper I took my exhaust cut outs for dual exhaust and cut straight across. Looks really good

Would like to see a pic of that...

I have my muffler pretty much welded strait to my down pipe. So my exhaust outlet is right under the passenger seat (or in my case, the driver seat). I have been thinking about bringing it out to a side exit exhaust. Most likely a rectangular exit in front of the rear tire. Not really side pipes, but similar idea...

It would look right with the perfect balance of the correct aero/paint/wheels/stance/application. A lot of things have to be executed right for sidepipes to look right here.

And you couldn't be very low.

Some nice meaty tires/wangan wing/fender flares/ rear diffuser/black paint/some sort of front lip/bumper. Hate to use the term, but somewhat 'mad max' style could pull this off.

But doing it because they're cheap, on a stock-body car sounds quite opposite of my tastes.

imo.

Not doing it for the price. I could just weld up a straight pipe to put in, in place of the cracked pre-silencer. I'm just thinking about trying something different. It's either going to be sidepipes with the true duals header, or a semi-custom true duals system using some old aftermarket mufflers(Was told they are HKS).

It'll also be no different than jacking up a lowered car with side skirts.

I feel like the FC can pull them off, and tinner is the only one who has done it with that black car.

Do whatever you want.. personally, it seems like it would be too much of a hassle for me to want to deal with lol.
