Whats your opinion on HKS dp?
Does the HKS dp makes as much hp as other downpipes? I noticed the HKS is not 3 inch piping in the beginning of the dp, think it matters? Secondly, can safely get away with a intake and dp with not computer or anything?
you can get away with those mods....no more...dont run more than stock boost...ever.
i have the hks dp...made a big diff when i put on that the cb and the intake....had a streetport...it totally woke the car up....had to do the ecu...it REAAAALLLY woke up once it got fuel.

Unless you're really interested in the psuedo-stock look, i'd go for one of the 3" SS mandrel bent DPs. They'll flow better. Figure folks actually see a difference from cat backs that have slightly straigter bends, and the section you're talking about is right off the turbos.
P.S. Spring for a Jet Hot or other ceramic coating... makes a difference. Make sure you get a 2000 degree rated coating.

if it makes more boost can i still get away with not using a ecu for a while cuz i dont have a boost controller either.
ptrhahn, i agree that the bends arent that nice as others and that is my concern performance wise, you think it is a big deal?

I would probably spring for the M2 SS if have the extra hundred bucks. It flows a little better. If it's too hard to get the M2 one, just get the HKS MS one. You won't regret it either way.
As long as you stay under 12psi, your stock ecu will be just fine. Therefore, no need to upgrade your ecu if you are just adding a DP with intake.

well i have the HKS dp and dont have any complaints. before i installed i had a perfect boost pattern. after installed i went to about 11-9-11 with major spikes but allowing it to breath. well worth the 199, but not the wait at the store. shop around, anyone can get HKS products. its the ones that say m2 and racing beat that are harder to get.

Yes it will make more boost. Downpipes are downpipes although they can be made with different materials, so HP increase is more or less the same for every single one.

I have a FULL 3" exhaust from turbo's all the way to my catback. When I put my silencer in the back(2" outlet...or is it 2 1/2" outlet...I can't remember since I don't use it anymore) ALL THE WAY AT THE MUFFLER, I can only boost stock...
