How can you tell if an FD is "touring/R1 or whatever?

Sorry, didn't mean to sound like a dick earlier.
You can make a base model look like a R1/R2 from the outside. R1 has a front lip and dual oil coolers, no sunroof as with the base.
Tourings have glass sunroofs and rear wiper, PEP/PEGs have painted sunroofs and no rear wiper.

Glass Sunroof were a 94 only option - MOST Touring/PEP/PEG's have metal sunroofs the biggest clue to an R-1/2 is the Imitation Suede seats and the fact they NEVER have CRUISE control or Autos and almost never have Sunroofs (rumor has a couple special order R-1 sunroof cars out there but I doubt it) - all Autos have a Tans Fluid Cooler that is identical (looking) to the Eng. Oil Cooler on the Pass. side.
Yes Leather, Sunroof, BOSE & Fog Lt switch = Touring for shur if also Has Cruise if not it may be a fully optioned BASE

There really were some R models with sunroofs. There's one pictured in The RX-7 Performance Handbook. And some overseas models came with a combination of Touring and R features. I've seen a number of them in British car magazines, for instance.
