It sits under the air box in front of the wheel well or how ever you spell it I've been drinkin ? It's a round Black cylinder made of plastic tht blows air with a hose on it. Is it important to have I've been ysinf it to feed air to my air filter...

It may be the air pump, also called smog pump.

 

I'll take a pic of it to find out I know the air pump is next to the intake manifold driven by a belt

I have the hose that pumps the air feeding my air filter...
I just want to know cause I cant find in my haynes repair manual what it is or I'm lookin over it!!!

 

Maybe its a breathalyzer to test if your drunk before you drive...

 

LOL I just wanted to know what it was it's the last pic, it's where the by the washer fluid bottle I think (I no longer have mine)...

haha dude i just removed that today! if you remove it it makes a small turbo sound! its an air silencer or air relief basically silences the sound when the air intake takes air or when the smog pump or air pump dumps all the air out

 

+1 it's a baffle to quiet the air that the air pump discharges when it's not needed...

Now I don't know everything but i'm pretty sure there is a section on this forum called the TECH SECTION for these kind of questions...there's also a little online manual called a Factory Service Manual and a SEARCH function for basic information such as that air baffle for the air pump system...

 

I was searchin and readin my book most of today cause of stupid problems that I just fixed add just wanted to know the name cause the air pump on top (1st pic) sucks air if I'm not mistaken from the air box!!! Like I said before I just wanted to know what it was and if it was really needed!!!

LOL @ Slpin I bought it with the Pass. side smashed and the O.G. S4 bumper was beat to hell so I got a S5 off Ebay cause they said it was off a 87 lol (MY FIRST ROTARY)!!! I got it as straight as I could but when I was staying in Vegas all the time instead of hear and there like I am now, I drifted it and hit a few things I got it as straight as I could under there LOL! This is my 2nd Pass. side fender that's on there now. No power wand drifting with DTSS and powerstreering had it where I couldnt feel my car so need less to say shes coming along I just need to pull a few dents another Pass side fender, hood, Top (SHES A VERT) and front S5 bumper then she will be ready for paint and not the rattle can thats on her now!!!
