hey Rotorheads-
surprise trip to San Diego this week, Dec. 3rd-9th.
Any auto (or general interest for that matter) hot spots I should check out while there?? Could be boneyards, museums, rotary shops - what-eva

San Diego has a great Old Town, & the Gaslight quarter is good dining and nightlife - - The Top Hat Bar & Grille there used to belong to Jim Croce.

The San Diego Zoo is world-reknowned, as is the Wild Animal Park. And Seaworld, of course.

Most all the beaches are gorgeous.

If you fly into the airport, look north as you land; immediately adjacent to the tarmac is the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. My alma mater.

Lots of big grey hulls in the harbor, usually, too.

There are suppoed to be a couple good museums in SD; I've never been, though.

San Diego's about 120 miles south of my house, by the way. Got a helluva good WWII air museum up here (Planes of Fame) http://www.planesoffame.org/museuminfo.php?site=Chino about 10 miles from my front door, if you're into that sort of thing.

+ 1 on checking out the zoo, be prepared to spend the whole day there. You may also want to check out pacific beach and mission bay

Lots of walking involved when visiting the zoo. Wear comfortable shoes...

Divin, next time I will go there, just to take a closer look at your beautiful car

yeah, love the old war-birds. Confederate Air Force actually _flew_ their B17 up to Alaska a few years back. Talk about rotary engines!!!

Sound's like the zoo and Gaslight for sure! any more....??

I'll have to defer to the local SD folk for more details; I've spent relatively little time down there.

Punch into the West forum, too; there's a number of SD based guys that post there regular.

I wish I'd have been able to rent an 8 while I was in San Diego for Sevenstock this year. Instead I got a Beetle. At least I'd have been comfortable driving the 8.

If you don't take him up on this, you should be ashamed of yourself...

Have fun in the warm weather. Last time you'll see it for months.

Yeah but Wacky's in LA!! So's Glen, I think? You guys - bless you all - I'd blast up there in a minute (or so) if I was on my own but the Better Half has plans too

I obviously need a week on my own down SoCal way to see all my peeps!

I'm out on the eastern edge of the metro area, a good 50 miles from LA proper. On a map, I'm 5 mins north of the 71/91 junction.

Tell the wife I'm about a half-hour east from Disneyland...

Hey, Stu, check this:

https://www.rx7club.com/west-rx-7-forum-193/san-diego-rx-club-mtg-dec-5th-876214/

The SD local club is having their monthly meeting on Saturday the 5th.
