Exclamation Power Fc and Recall on Ecu

My FD has a recall on the ECU, and i have a Power FC installed. The People at the dealership say that there will be a cost to change the FC because of a chip. Is a power FC considered a Chip. I bought my Fd already with aftermarket parts in it. My question is can they charge me for a recall on my ECU.

I think you need to do some serious research if you are going to a dealership for service on a modded rx7.

PowerFC is a standalone Ecu, not a chipped ecu, which they should have no reason to touch. Either the dealership lacks the knowledge or they are trying to take advantage of you. If your FD has a recall on the ecu they must refering to the stock ecu which you have no use for with the PowerFC.

Please ask the dealership nicely to hand your car over and never touch your car again.

And If for some reason the Apexi PowerFC does have a recall have a professional rotary shop take a look into it.

The Powerfc is/should be tuned for your specific car if you run the stock ecu with a certain amount of mods it will run dangerously/not run.

The recall is for the stock ECU. The Power FC is a standalone replacement ECU, so your car does not have the stock ECU installed (or shouldn't). There is nothing for the dealership to do for that recall to your car.

O.K... my question is

WHY would the dealer want to do a "recall" on a 16 year old car? WTF.....

What am I missing here?

Oh, like everyone already said... You have a PFC... No need for the dealer to touch your car.. so RUN... RUN as fast as you can AWAY from them..

Power FC is a completely stand alone ecu. there is no reason the stock ecu should be of an concern to you or the dealership if you dont use it

like mentioned you should get your car and never go back there, it seems they are trying to take advantage of you or trying to make more money or something

run run run! never go back!

Why would you take a rotary to a mazda dealership? Run as far away from them as possible.

lol not all mazda dealerships are bad, the techs at my dads dealership have actually build and ported rotarys, the one has been working with rotarys since RX3's and SA RX7's, they even work on the JDM FC's and FD's

but yes do run fast, sounds like this dealership is full off idiots!!!
