Turbo 12a questions
Hey guys, I have a few questions about turbocharging a 12a. To start, the car is an 81 fb with a carbureted 12a and a 5 speed and it has 72k miles on it. I dont really know enough about these engines yet to know exactly what im dealing with as far as air flow and turbo sizing.
I got the car in "runs but wont idle" condition, and it turned out that even though the guy rebuilt the carb, the idle circuit seems to be clogged up and this carb is a scary mess so i would rather not screw with it. I have an Italian Weber DCOE 40 and an airResearch 50 trim t3 from a mercedes 300d lying around that i'd like to use instead of the nikki but im a little worried this will be too small a turbo for a rotary.
I'm planning to do a draw thru setup and i'll likely be making my own manifolds and hardware and fittings and things. The turbo's factory internal wastegate is set at 14.2psi Basically i'm just looking for insight about turbo sizing and jetting and possible cooling issues i may run into. Thanks

There is a considerable amount of turbo info in the 1st gen FAQ and Archives.
Without knowing the specifics of your turbo I can't say for sure, but it sounds much too small.
