245/45/18?
245/45/18?
Hey guys,
long story short, my tires got destroyed and i can't drive my car around right now. i'm running on 18x9 wheels right now and a buddy of mine with an sti has some extra tires he's willing to sell to me for a good price, but the size is 245/45. Unfortunately, money is an issue, otherwise i'd shell out for new tires.
I'm currently running 235/40 without any issues @ stock height, I took some measurements with a measuring tape, as well as used jimlab's nifty excel spreadsheet, but I just wanted to double check that I won't have fitment issues. Don't want to get the tires mounted and balanced and find that i can't drive out of my garage without rubbing
thanks in advance!

At stock hight you might be ok in the front. You may get occasional rubbing from the front. If you are lowered, no way.
Those tires are about an inch taller than what you had.

Yeah, I got around the same numbers as you did,
i calc'ed my current sidewall to be 94mm high (235 * .40), and the new tire to be 110.25mm high (245 * 45), so i should be getting an extra 1.6 cm thickness all around, just kind of worried that everytime i turn the steering wheel i'll be rubbing against the liner lol. Oh well, I guess beggars can't be choosers.
Has anybody been in the situation of running these sized tires before?
