Michigan RX7 Meet/Autocross 2-day event
Alright guys, lets see if we can do this the right way.
We've got a two day autocross event on May 16/17 this spring, so lets combine this with a meet and have a good time. This event is perfect for those of you who have always wanted to check out autocross and get your feet wet. The sponsors of this event http://furrin.org/ always put on a good show, and the atmosphere is laid back and aimed at being a fun time.
We can work out overnight accomodations based on how many people will be coming from out of town. If only a few, then I've got a 1 acre back yard we can use for camping. If the response is better than that, then I'll investigate camping in the area of the race. This event is about 15 minutes from my house.
Below are the event details. If you can make it, post up and let me know. Please specify if you will be looking for a place to crash (er, I mean stay overnight).
The Furrin Group has verified two of our premier autocross events of
the 2009 season. On May 16 & 17, we will open our season at West
Michigan Auto Auction in Moline. These will be two separate events.
On the 17th, we will be coordinating the event with the Ford Contour/SVT
club event. Cost for Saturday is $15 FG member, $20 non-member. Cost
for Sunday is $15 FG or Ford Contour/SVT member, $20 non-member. If
you run both days, there will be a $5 discount for the second day. Each
day will offer the $10 Vintage class; any vehicle older than 1980.
This event should be open for pre-registration within a few days at www.myautoevents.com We usually fill up, so I would recommend registering as early as possible. The only thing you need besides a car that will pass tech inspection (decent tires, battery secured, ball joints and brakes in good shape) is a helmet. And they do have loaner helmets available, so if you don't have one don't let that stop you.

The racing part of the event is now listed :
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...event_id=10125
However, registration will not actually open for a few more days. Make sure you do register (you don't pay until you arrive) because this is a very popular event and will fill up quickly. I will post again when I see that registration has opened.

No, but I'm sure he'll be there. I'm putting together the meet, and a local race club is handling the race events. And you don't have to be driving a 7 to attend.

Just list the number you want, it is first come first served when it comes to that. You can check the entry list to see who has already signed up, and what number they are running. Classification can be figured out on the day of the event if you are unsure of your class.
This group putting the race on is really great bunch of guys. In it for the fun, so no ****** to deal with and nobody's going to throw a regulation handbook at you. Come on out, we'll take good care of you.

cool, thats what I needed to know! I'm not worried about winning my class or anything, but didn't want to make other competitors mad with running in the wrong class.
Now to buy a helmet....going to need one sooner or later.

I've been holding off to see if they release SA2010 helmets, but the standard hasn't been approved yet, so it will probably be a while. I plan on doing some other events this year (and going forward), so its an investment.
I'm in
I signed up today. I'm new to this, so how strict is tech?
The good: I have catch cans, good tires, factory seats, good bushings, ect.
What might be an issue: swapped in manual belts over the passive restraints, a slight oil sweat from oil cooler lines when I running hard (few drips not a puddle), an open wastegate (I'll try to fix that asap), battery is in the storage bin.

I hope you can make it man. You will want to race once you see how it all works. It doesn't cost anything to register, so I would suggest that you register just in case you can make it...
