Whats your single turbo intake?
I just bought a XS Engineering T04E turbo kit from rx7store.net and it doesnt come with a filter. Right now I have a custom intake with two K&N filters for my twins but I was wondering what other people are running for their single turbos. Please post your intake and pics.

Hmmm, expensive turbo and chickenwire? Not a good idea. Get a K&N. They make all sorts of sizes and will have something that will fit. You can also use rubber or silicone coupler tubing, or even pvc piping and elbows from home depot to extend it away from the turbo towards the front of the car where it will get cooler air.

Anyone have good success with a custom hood intake? Not just a huge hole in the hood (like someone I know in Htown), but a custom scoop or actual cutout (viper style) that works. I know I've seen this in threads b4, but....while we are on the subject.

OK OK OK check my car in the gallery here in the RX7Club... canman6969 Its the one with all the blue, you can see the intake we made. The egg strainer is right infront of the turbo, between the pipe, and turbo.

I removed that aluminum plate that has the couplings in it and made a new one with only one hole in it. I bought a piece of aluminum and cut it to be the same shape as the original. I cut a hole in it and used a 45 degree 3" piece of silicon hose to extend the metal coupling enough so the filter would be inside the box. Viola- the M2 single turbo cool-air intake box.

Having a cold air intake (or doing something to get cooler air into the turbo) doesn't make a huge difference since the intercooler brings the air temp back down to near ambient temperature- especially if you have a front mount. It does help though- that's less heat that the intercooler has to remove, and the air into the engine is a little cooler.

Your turbo would also be more efficient (hot inlet = hotter outlet ) , and have to work less to provide the same pressure ratio , resulting in more boost sooner and lower in the RPM ranges of the engine and turbo. (more responsive turbo and car).
