My FC story thus far

I loved the seven from the first second i saw it as most people on this site. I knew i had to have one, but at the time i was 15. So I began to formulate a plan to get my hands on one of these babies. Yesterday it finally happened, but it did cause a little disrest in my family.

I am now 17, on the verge of becomeing 18 and live in Texas. I am going to be going to Washington state to attend college so I had begun looking for a car to buy to have when i arrived there. I found this 86 N/A for $500 and loved it, yes of course it needs some TLC, but not much and it also came with everything to get it running again. The only thing it needed to get it started was a fuel pump. So i called my dad who lives in Washington and he looked at the car in person and said that it was a great deal and that me and him would be able to get it running in a weekend at most. So the next step was get the $500 cash, so i call up grandma and get my graduation present early and she has no problem with me getting this car as her and her husband (grandpa) had one a few years back too, i guess the rx7 love stays in the family. But I get her to give my dad the money and he gets the car, and this is where the story gets interesting. She calls my house in Texas and talks to my mom and step dad and asks if they like the car I just bought. Well surprise surpirse, i didn't tell my mom or my step dad about this endevor. Well im at the movies with a freind and I get a call from my real dad and he says im in for it when i get home and i was. I arrive home and my step dad sits me down and say I mad a HUGE mistake and that now i have to deal with the consiquences (sp?) of my actions. He and my mom yell at me a little and say what if insurance is X amount of dollars and so on and so fourth, and while this is going on of course I am off in la la land dreaming of the seven. Well now im in all sorts of trouble because I got this car and didn't tell my step dad or mom. But i am so happy i did it and don't have a single regret about it. I have caught seven fever early and am proud of it. I know some people might now enjoy this story (disrespect to my step dad and mom) but to each there own, just thought I would share this with people that have the same respect for this car as i do. I'll try and get pics posted up as soon as I can, and I think I got a pretty decent car for $500 and all parts included to get it running. Thanks for reading and im so happy im now part of the seven family.

Good ****. Remember - your money, your choice. nobody can tell you what to buy or what to do with it. Worst case scenario it'll just stay uninsured until you get it up and running and when you get a job just pay for insurance yourself. just don't crash. Handle it brotha!

Ya i tried to convey the fact that it is my money and i could do what i want with it, but they just pulled the "while your under our roof" speech. I have a job now and didn't need the $500 from my grandma but I knew if I took it out of my bank account my mom would notice the $500 missing because she works at the bank. I have a job too so insurance won't be a probelm i know there just trying to scare me saying its going to be $500 for each month.

I liked RX7S since I was 14, my mom bought me a fc and I crashed it so she told me I can't get an RX7 again. She said at the end of summer she will get me anything under 10k so I was looking at s14s, but i saw another fc for 1900, which I can afford out of pocket. I bought it, forfeiting my mom's offer, and haven't looked back since.

You did the right thing, man! Screw the mom and STEP dad... Your real dad sounds like the one to stay with. People like that are the reason that Prozac is so damn popular. Don't ever regret your decisions!

I bought a benz for 3200... stupidest mistake I ever made! I crashed it, sold for 1500, and got an FC vert for 1000 Right now, the car is a little rough.... but as soon as I get a job, it's gonna be ballin! =]

i'm glad I got it, and i'm glad that I only have two more months here with my mom and step dad then i can get out of this hell hole. My real dad bugs me everyday becuase the cars at his house and he is like, "I sat in the car today it feels real nice" and is just like making me really really want to be there to work on the freakin car. But as soon as i get up to washington i am going to have one BA FC.

/\ Hahahaha.... wow....

I am supposedly a terrible driver: I had a speeding ticket, and t boned a lady with her lights off at night, getting my second ticket. Then I hit a pole on my way home from a winter drifting session, but that never went on insurance.

Right now, it's $1500 a year, mainly because of being 17 with 2 tickets, but that was because everyone in my FAMILY of 4 people was put on the car. I think it's around 1000 now with only me and my dad.

wow after hearing all that about insurance then dang i should be fine, cuz i haven't had a ticket or crash or anything (knock on wood) and plus i make good grades too so it should be pretty decent then. That just means more money for the FC baby.

My father didn't really like the idea of me buying an RX-7 at first, he actually wanted me to buy a S13 because he used to have a S30 lol. Anyway I can tell now that the car as growned on him BAD. He's actually wondering whether to buy one himself.

Oh yeah and welcome to the wonderful, wallet emptying, world of RX's.
