LS1 Third Gen

ok, I was refered to this site by someone to answer some of my questions. Right now I drive an STi, but I always have a project car going, and for the next one, I'd really like to do an FC with an LS1. I've been into the whole Nissan thing for a while, and with just about everyone and their brother doing that now a days, I'd like to try something different.
So, heres my questions.
If I get a reasonable shell for around $1K, and then a motor/tranny for about $3500, what would the estimated cost of the custom work be?
What needs to be done as far as custom work goes? (move the motor mounts, firewall, tranny mount, new tranny tunnel....?)

i hope you are wearing your nomex......this site isn't very swap friendly.

i don't think you will find a shell for 1k that will ever be driven again. they usually run from around $3500 and up for rollers, and 3500 is for a very ruff one unless you get lucky.

you need to search v8rx7forum.com for all the answers to your questions. good luck!

In your title you've got LS1 Third Gen, but an FC isn't a third gen.

If you are looking for a 2nd gen fc, you can definitely find them for $1,000. I bought mine for that price, sold the engine for $550. The subframe costs about $400. I swapped the engines myself. And paid about $2,000 in labor for help with the wiring and clutch line. You don't need to modify the trans tunnel besides shaving a couple brackets off. I just got mine running two weeks ago and it is very fun to drive. Torque like crazy. Haven't pulled up next to anything I couldn't smoke yet. Good luck. PM me if you have any more specific questions.
