what brake fluid do you guys recommend? I have a 93 fd and drive it mostly on the street and occasional auto-x. i hear the higher the DOT number the better...is this true? ansd does this mean you have to change it more often?? thanks alot -Jeff

 

no dot 5...dot 5.1 is ok

Yeah, like Bacon said, Motul and ATE are considered the best. The only thing you have to remember is these fluids tend to absorb water easier so you should change them once a year.

 

The best deal in brake fluid is those 32oz bottles of Valvoline SynPower that you can get at any auto parts store for $5. It isn't great fluid, but it is the best stuff you'll find on the shelf and it is dirt cheap.
