NorCal (Tahoe area) Drift event!!!!

All,

This is a PM that I received from a friend of mine last night and I thought that it should be posted up. This seems to be one hell of a deal!! So if you're interested then post up in here so I can make sure he sees about this. Gabe is really putting his all into making this track available to all of us for a good price. So tell me what you think and if you want to run then speak up so you can pay and get your name on the list.

march 24 2007 at reno-fernley raceway in fernley nevada
we will be hosting an amatuer drift practice event welcome to all road worthy car owning licensed or permited(with parent) driver to participate in an educational and fun practice day in a safe and controlled environment

the affordable cost is the biggest part of it because i did my very best to keep cost of registration competitive with the cost of a ski lift ticket so we set it at 75 dollar online pre-registration and it will be between 85 and 100 at the track(assuming we still have open spots, but who knows how many will show up to the first event i put on).

NASA will be allowing us use of thier insurance package and the track's on site performance driving school whom is sponsoring a majority of the costs for this event will have instructors available to assist beginners in the area. we will go over a few basic car prep/maintenence/mechanical needs of a driftable street car, as well as drivers meeting with instructed lesson plans. possibly even vendors if we can get that together in time( i've been working with a few local vendors but any suggestions would be great!) if there is a group of at least 10 drivers from one forum i'll offer a group discount to each. let me know what you'd think cuz i'd like to get a thread "stickied" for the area if possible. also accomodation discounts may be available if an interest is voiced with enough advanced notice. thanks again Zach, you're influence in the community really means alot to me. you are a good person to be representing all these rotary heads.

Hey guys, Gabe here, just wanted to let everyone know that the racetrack is only about 25 minutes out of reno once you get there on i-80 and it is an amazing facility. I have made the drive from rocklin to reno and back in my fc and it is nothing more than a pleasant saturday morning drive.

As far as the rx7 community goes i will bend over backwards for all of you as i've experienced you'd all do for a fellow rotary owner. If you have any questions, suggestions, or comments feel free to send them to me.

Last, our website guy is a very busy guy donating his time so he's doing his very best to update the website and get everything on it. Rotary owners can contact me directly and i will get individual registration information for whomever requests it. thanks for your patience, any registration completed in full before march 18 will be considered pre registration.

and I don't know how much you want to advertise, but nolimitimports.com is the local car site.

I don't remember ever seeing prices for a drift day this low before. And this track is brand new so you know the surface is going to be amazing!! Start spreading the word to any and all of your friends who want to drift because the more cars the show up the more events this track will have. They want to provide people with a safe, controlled environment to race, drift, learn, etc... THE STREETS ARE NOT THE PLACE TO BE DOING THAT!!!!!!!

And on a side note, I hope to have Rotary Fest at this same track this summer.

And from what Gabe told me, everyone from these boards will get any and every break possible. He is trying to bend over backwards to take care of the 7 community. So I'll be looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Hey, we are very interested. Tony and I were talking a month ago about trying to find an event at Reno-Fernley so we could make a short vacation out of heading to Reno. THis is perfect! We'll be sure and sign up.

I'm sure they won't allow convertibles without a roll bar; hell, I can't even go hillclimb in my vert with my other sports car club. But, we may unveil our FB project (hehe, it was free and has some rust but it will run!).

I'm glad to see that people are taking an interest in this event. I think that everyone will really like this track and the people who are putting this event on.

yea now, this seems pretty interesting, a nevada event, things in vegas seem to never happen(however there is one that "might" happen once again) this seems to be a much better event than what the vegas one could be, I'd be down to go to this

update- yesterday we had a full six hours on the upper skid pad to test track layouts. we got a few layouts configured for some skill building features on the smaller slower skid pad. also we got a Ton of photos and video of my fc throwing pieces of tire in all directions. keep checking the website for uploads of all that.

we are also looking into getting a group rate/discount on rooms for anyone trying to make a weekend out of the trip.

last-an after party may go on with a live band and a talented dj so if you were wondering what you'd be doing after, consider this.

I think its great to see another drift organization in norcal. I might have to check it out if its worth it. I dont want to take any publicity away from this new organization but i wanted to let everyone in norcal know of another drift event thats going to be a montly thing. www.driftbattle.org. Its in Tracy stockton, just wanted to let ppl know about them because the only way your going to get better at drifting is more track time. Also hope it keep drifting off the streets.
