Why Rz/Bathurst? They are the same... The dif final is 4.3 in all 280hp versions vs 4.1 in all 265hp models. That where the differences end.

Japanese and American 5th gears are different though. You guys have higher 5th's than we do.

Another member has said that the JDM 5th gear is 0.762 and another 0.806.

I'd like the Mazda pn# for 0.806, which I believe the RZ and Bathurst models had.

Thanks,
:-) neil

there were about 5 RZ models, at least as many bathurst models over the FD's 10 year run in japan. the differences between them were pretty big too.........

It may be complete crack smoking (90% sure) or missing information, but something is off. I have a spirit R type A would that have it?

I currently view it as a waiste of time... However.

What forum member? Post a link. If you can provide a link to (non crack-smoking) info that supports this I can ask the dealer what my 5th gear part # is.

Here's the link:

In short, DaleClark says JDM is 0.762, while dubulup, says it's 0.806.

I'd love to see what your dealer says.

Thanks in advance,

:-) neil

Any update ?

:-) neil

PS: here's what another member found out, hence my asking for the pn# for the 0.806 5th gear.

OK, first dealer brochure from '92-95 model years show .806 5th gear. I have one that says "95 model year" and it shows BOTH .762 and .806 5th gear ratios - the Type RZ having the .762, and the Type R-S having .806.

Spirit-R brochure shows the Spirit-R itself having the .762, and the Type R Bathurst having the .806.

Another one I have (it's a '96-98 brochure) shows type Type RZ with the .762, and all others with the .806.

So, in a nutshell, there are TWO JDM 5th gears. The US 5th is .719, for those of you just joining us . So, there's quite a selection .

Dale
