Los Angeles area driving route
Los Angeles area driving route
Hi all,
In a few weeks, I'm hoping to find a day in LA area. I read on old (2005 or 2006 with Arial Atom article, I think) Road and Track of a nice route in (I think) Bear County or somewhere that is popular among Bikers. Does anyone have any idea where it might be? If not, any suggestion?
Thank in advanse!

The Malibu Canyons, mainly Mulholland Highway. At night there's just about no one driving around so it's pretty clear sailing all the way through. Lots of turns, only one section of straight that lasts less than 1/4 mile. I used to tune mainly suspension up there, and a few races here and there, although I do not condone any form of street racing as of late. Just that I was young and didn't have enough money to tune at track and test days. It is however just as dangeous as any of the canyon/mountain road, do it at your own risk.
Thanks Ljk619 and cool_as_crap!
Mulholland Highway looks good, and clear sail? Sweat!!!
I just can't find the magazine, but I'll see if I can find one in used book store.
I really thought it was bear county, but... oh, well.
Thanks both!

The drive up to Big Bear is massively popular for bikers. Big Bear even has its own chopper shop. It's quite a ways out of the way from LA, though.
The hills above Malibu are definitely a great place to go driving. There are also a number of great drives north of the LA area.
Keep in mind though that there are a lot of dorifto Initial-D wannabes out there that draw the wrong type of attention. Have fun with the drive but keep it safe and sane.
