Suspension help needed

I have a 1988 SE with the AAS (Auto Adjusting Suspension). I dont know if the thing works but there are 2 switches behind the shifter for "normal" and "sport".

2 Questions:
1.How do I find out if the damn thing (AAS) is working?
2.The car makes a noise from the front right when going over speed bumps anything over 5mph.

The sound isnt too bad.. more of a loud creaking noise. Doesn't sound like something WD40 wouldn't fix, but maybe its something serious I should be worried about??

The guy I bought it from was a mechanic in training at the Arizona Automotive Institute and said that he had recently replaced all 4 struts. I don't have a garage with a lift. Only ramps. Help!

It's easy to see if they're working, just push the button to one setting, drive it, switch settings and see if you can feel a difference. If he replaced the shocks, then unless they're the expensive OEM AAS shocks, it does nothong. Look in the front to see if the motors are hooked up to the strut shafts on top.

The guy I got it from probably didn't use the AAS shocks if they would cost him more. He probably took out the actuator as well...
