GSL-SE rear brake shim nightmare...

I'm still working on my little 84 GSL-SE project and decided a full brake job / cleanup was in order so I bought some new Bonez Stage 1 brake pads and had the rotors turned etc. I even went so far as to take a wire wheel to everything and painted the mounting brackets & dust shields. The front brakes went just fine and look / work great but the rear brakes... ugh. After getting it all apart, rotors turned and everything cleaned up... I was putting the new pads in and just spent 2 hours trying to get these things to stay put... when I suddenly noticed the main lower spring shims are ALL identical... they all point the same direction. What this has caused is the pads don't fit in the shims like they should and is probably why the brakes were squeeling in the back to begin with.

The question is, does anyone know of any place I could get a full set of these rear disk brake shims? I'm just assuming two of the shims SHOULD be in a reverse direction but I suppose I could be wrong

Check for the same thing at www.rockauto.com They are usually a bit more reasonable than most other places and have a pretty good selection...

And if you go with RockAuto, make sure you use someone's 5% discount. Here is my latest one:

Your discount code is:

494232413172

Here's how to use it:

* In our Java Catalog, enter your code in the "How did you hear about us" line
of the shopping cart.
* In our non-Java Catalog, enter your code in the "Discount Code" field of the
Shopping Cart and click "Calculate Discount."

**NOTE: We sometimes get calls from people who put the word "discount" in front
of their code and do not get the discount. Please enter ONLY the discount code,
no other words or numbers.**

The discount takes 5% off our already-low prices, and there's no limit on order
size or the number of orders. Use the code for your next order, and share the
code with friends, neighbors, relatives, the guy at the corner garage--anyone
you know who works on cars or trucks.

This discount code expires on November 7, 2006; so don't wait!
