any one running IHI rx-6 single??

...or have experience with the turbo itself. pro's & con's?
i am having a new motor put in at RP and a leaning to this turbo for use with a power FC and it is mainly due to their streetability.....the kit seems reasonably priced and does not seem to need as much fitment as say a t-78....

all info welcome...

thanks,

louis

I have been using this turbo for over a year.... but only about 3000 miles. So this is the older RX6A system... no air pump.

Runs great... minimal to no lag... esp over 3000 rpms. It is still a tight fit... mainly with the airconditioner lines.

I have a ported engine and I made 417 RWHP at 15 psi on pump fuel. I also have used a PMS and now use a Haltech E6K... runs so much smoother with the E6K.

I really like my RX6 but the new T04 systems that XS is selling seem very good also.

Negatives... Can't be rebuilt... atleast in the US. And the turbine section is really too small for a rotary... traded off of quicker response for more backpressure.

If I had it to do over again... I would go for a slightly bigger turbo.... both turbine and compressor section.

RP put mine in last Wednesday. I don't have the car back yet, but I was looking for streetable, non-laggy response also. I'm hoping I get it. I autoX, so it'll come in handy (the quick spool) there.

Keep in mind that RP doesn't sell the XS kits, so they may favor the RX6. Doesn't mean they're pullin' your chain, just that they only "know" that the RX6 is a good streetable, little lag turbo.

Chuck, what kind of a port do you have? RP is expecting to max my rwhp out at around 370. I have a street-ported rebuild from Pineapple.

I have a larger than average street port... I am actually using a low compression rotor "race" engine from RE Wing of Japan... similar to what they use in their drag car. I just don't have the turbo or the fuel to take full advantage of the engine... but it's still not bad

Oh, I also had to advantage of having Matt aka "HITman" tune my E6K personally.
