Its already been noted that a DIY wide band AFR kit is available from down under, but now they have made available fully assymbled AFR units. The web site is as follows: http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/wbo2/wbo2.htm The 02 sensor has to be bought seperatly right now, but the TECHEDGE site is going to make them available shortly. There is a thread on this site where several people are currently assymbling them. Look under ROTARY PERFORMANCE, and the the author is GOBLIN. Or do a SEARCH, and put in WARGASM as the member. AS a side note, Peter, who is running the TECHEDGE site, gives quick responses to inquiries by E-Mail. Beware that it could take a couple of weeks to get one, but should be worth the wait.

Ya, I just ordered the DIY kit, I'll get the o2 sensor from NAPA- 150 bucks.
It's VERY cheap- even the pre-built kits are a fraction of the price of ones off the shelf here.
I'm looking forwards to building and installing it!

 

What is the benefit of having a wideband o2 sensor? This won't work with the factory ecu right? Is it just for tuning purposes or can the ecu actually read these signals?

 

I'm new to turbo's and all that talk about running lean made me timid. I know that the 02 sensor that came with the car isn't accurate a'tall at full throttle, so why waste my time and money looking at a digital meter or flashing lights on a Autometer gauge if they are not accurate???? They're just accurate at the stoich range from what I read. And before someone starts in on me, I'm read a number of opinions that say the only way to go is with a exaust gas temp gauge, or a egt combined with a wideband sensor and meter. I also realize that someone with a lot of experience tuning probably can use just a conventional 02 sensor combined with his past experiences tuning. Only thing I know for sure right now is I can run b/t 9 and 10psi and the fuel pressure remains at 50psi and does not deteriorate which makes me think I'm not starving or leaning out . Then again I don't run for minutes at a time at full boost. Just not enough hwy around here without cars.

 

A wide band sensor is used with a wide band display for tuning purposes only. The stock computer only uses the stock narrow band O2 sensor for running in closed loop mode where the sensor tells it if it's either above or below stoichiomtric.
