Me and my 20B FD project are moving to Charlotte

Hi guys,

I am moving to Charlotte next week for at least 6 months. I'd love to meet up with other FD owners once I get settled in. If anyone knows of a garage for rent near the city please let me know. I still have a lot of work to do on the FD 20b project and am not sure where I am going to do it. Also, I'm looking for a good fabricator to do an exhaust system and a body shop.

Hi and welcome to Charlotte. I live in the University area of Charlotte, which is about 10-15min north of uptown Charlotte. If you are looking for exhaust work and are dead serious about having a very high quality job done, I suggest Pro Fab in Concord, NC. I live literally just 2 miles away from Lowes Motor Speedway which is where all the best fab shops are. I can also tell you that if you ever need a hand with your 7 that Rusty and Brian at Rotorsports Racing are great people. I've had dealings with them in the past and have found them to be excellent and very knowledgable people. If you need anything when you get to Charlotte, shoot me a PM.

I grew up in Charlotte and usually visit family from time to time there. I'd love to see the 3rotor sometime. Next time the Charlotte gang has a little social event, let me know....

good body shop would be final finish paint and body. they do amazing work. they had an fd up there a while back and that thing looks sick. a bit pricey but its worth the money you'll spend. they do a lot of high end work on football players cars and **** so they no what they're doing. also, like skylance said, ernst at rx7world can help you out with any mechanical needs. so far as garages go id recomend just renting out a self storage thing and keeping a few locks on the door

Sleeperfc,

Is that a 30x10? It looks much wider than 10.

Thanks for the input guys.

That's pretty funny. I called all of the local places and they are full right now. I am going to try back near the end of the month.

I started looking apts, condos, and townhouses today. I found a pretty nice one that has a detached garage. The complex is immaculate, has tennis courts, and a coffee bar. They would probably evict me the first time I left the garage door open and they saw the automotive horror show I have going on.

What part of Charlotte will you be at? There is a storage place across from my apt complex on the north side of Charlotte, near UNCC area. I can't remember what the name is though so I'll have to check tomorrow when I go to work. They may have something available for you.

Thanks for the input guys. I just got a place in the Dilworth area with a garage. If it doesn't work out I'll get a storage place.

I'm really looking forward to getting the car back. The manifold/downpipe is more or less done. Next week it goes to another shop to have the twin supra fuel pump carrier built, new brake lines installed (the stock lines in the engine compartment don't fit anymore because I modified the firewall), and the 4" exhaust system built. After that I'm shipping it down here to be painted. My goal is to get it on the road by the end of the summer.

Sounds like quite the setup. Let me know when you get into town. I'd love to check out your FD. Also I can give you heads up on car meets if you are into them.
Cheers.
