im about to buy lug nuts but i want to see if i can get something that will help prevent from having either of my sets of work wheels stole. i know with basic wheel locks its not too hard to break them off. any other ideas? better wheel locks? links to where to purchase would be great as well. thanks

 

As far as wheel security goes, the only method that i am aware of is locking lug nuts.

 

i know wheel locks are probably my only option, but i know that basic wheel locks are easy to get around. is there some new kind of wheel lock i dont know about yet?

gorilla lug nuts. I am pretty sure you want the 12x1.5 size, and summit racing sells them. They have been keeping my Fikses safe for years now

Anyone who REALLY wants your rims will get them with wheel locks or not. Just get some regular lug nuts and make sure your insurance will cover your wheels.

 

My dad had some sort of wheel locks on his truck many years ago and he got a flat and didn't have the key so he called BCAA (AAA). The guy took a big hammer and chisel and turned the lock into a big flat head nut and took it off that way. It took seconds and was really easy.

I'd say the only way to keep someone from getting your wheels is to weld the nuts to the studs, but that's not a very vpractical option.

Mahjik's suggestion is a good one, get insurance for the wheels too.

 

or Get multiple sets of wheels locks, like 4 different locks for each wheel.

 

the splined lug nuts arent too expensive and i have to buy new lug nuts anyways so i think ill atleast give them a try and just hope for the best. i still have to get insurance on the 7, im trying to find some thatll cover the wheels as well as everything else on the car.

goodfellasFD32---i did a search in this section for wheel locks(i think it was i typed) and i read a lot of different threads and in each there were poeple saying their gorillas rusted or that gorillas were easy to get past any wheel lock, or any lock for that matter, is easy to get past if you know how to do so.

 

I just bought my RX, and it came equipped quite a rather large amount of upgrades. One of which was OZ rims held on with splined lug nuts, which have kept them secure for about 5 years.

I know how long it has been, because the previous owner has kept virtually every receipt he has ever gotten for this car for the past 10 years or so.
