How was the car at that point, shaking or still pretty smooth? Where did you have the guts to do that? And at what SPEED did it top out at?

 

I topped out at 150,on the l.i.e.,at about 3 in the morning.Five lanes(hov) of open highway and a good 10-15 miles of straight run,by the time I hit 140 the car was shaking so violently it felt like it was gonna fall apart!!!

 

i hit 135mph then let off started to hit traffic on I480(in Ohio) bout 10PM... my car was pretty smooth still.. it has alot to do with wheel alinment and tire balencing... Just givin ya my $.02

125 is my top speed due to my lightened flywheel. My car feels very stable at that speed. Before I had my lightened flywheel, my car would sill be pulling at 135. At that time I had some crappy tires, that were probably not balanced right, so the car would start to shake a bit.

 

I've hit 140-150 many many times, the car is smooth as silk. I took my friend Joe for a ride the other day, I just floored it in 5th. He looked over at my speedo and said "Holy ****, we're going 150, it doesn't even feel like it" Yeah, it's an RX-7

I've hit 152 right after I got my car, but I haven't done a real top speed run since I've done my few mods, I would estimate around 165 or quicker.

 

I have gone 140 at 8000rpms in 4th but not enough road to go faster. It still pulls to , just very slowly after 8k. 89GXL. I have yoko tires with tall side walls and the car feels perfectly safe at that speed. Its amazing... I feel like im going to crash when I drive my friends miata over 80..lol

 

I hit 220 km/hr when I was racing a MkIV Supra.
I popped my motor doing that. 18 psi=400 hps!!!!!!!!!

 

I've done 160 in mine about 3X on the third time I blew a seal, so now I have no car

 

135 is my top speed....I could prolly get past that, but would need a LONG stretch. Planning on doing a few mods in the near future to help me go a bit faster cause 210kph doesn't cut it anymore. I have an 86 GXL.

Just yesterday I went to my summer house in Xylokastro, and on the way there I hit 235kph (144mph) just upshifting to 5th without any difficulty at all. Didnt want to floor it because there was some light traffic, and when my sister saw the tach (230kph) she turned white, because she didnt quite "know" how fast we were going. The car was almost smooth, except for a slight feeling of "nose fishing" (front part of the car weaving slightly).

The only peculiar thing was that I got a mild vibration and noise at around 90-100mph (150-160kph), which then disappears....

 

Damn Jap import only has a 180km/h (112mph) speedo! I've had it way past that, maybe 210km/h (130mph) on only mild mods. It's funny seeing the needle come around towards zero again! Roof down is a different story, did 150km/h (93mph) once and thought I was going to be sucked out!

I hit maybe 122 the other day.. I'm not completely sure..i know my speedo and tach do not agree, and i'm not sure which one is really off..heh But it was dog slow at ~122 in 5th.. prolly shoulda stayed in 4th a bit longer..

in hit 155, not alot of vibrations. car seemed to float on the ground though. 140 is not hard to do at all, anything past that takes some extra (10psi) or more to do. this of course was 3000ft above sea level.

When my car was stock i could hit 127 or 128, but i had some old dry rotted tires on it. now with the new engine, and all the mods i am hitting 149 150. big improvement and getting to speed much faster. i have new kuhmos on so the ride is pretty smooth except for the harmonic frequency at 110 or so. it rattles for a few mph then stops again. i am guessing that it would show up again at 220 if the car were that fast. thats math stuff that i havent studied in years tho!!

 

I have Kumhos too. They do the same thing at ~110mph, but past that they are fine, its just that one speed for some reason. I thought they were out of balance, so I had them redone, but it still did it. Other than that I really like the tires though, great traction and they have lasted me 20k miles now.

Bone stock i got my car goin about 130 mph, I was only at 5000 RPM in 5th gear and it was still pulling, smooth as a babies ***, I just kinda figured a ticket for doing 130 mph wasnt what I needed so I slowed down

 

You would run out of RPM's way before you could hit 165mph! Unless you changed the gear ratio theres is no way I would beleive this one.

 

Slightly larger diameter tyres and/or a higher redline will easily see you past 165mph. On original diameter tyres and standard gearing, 7000rpm in 5th is about 157mph. Soul Assasin is obviously taking advantage of his 9000rpm redline!
