what tires are you guys running on your plus rims? ive got some 185 70 yokohomas on mine and they sit wayyy too high and have too big of a side wall for me. they came with the car and work good for daily driving i guess. anyone have pics/specs of their pimpin plus rims and tires.

 

Get the ones that do well in the rain

 

toyo 205/60/13's.

that is what most of the scca seven racers use out here. seems like a good bet to me if you want to stick with your 13's

 

185/70-13 Goodyear Clubs.

These tires are like cheater slicks, best of all they're really cheap too.

 

yeah 70 series are way too tall for me. i wonder how well 205 60's do in the rain.... ha

 

i got avs intermidates in 205/50-13 there pretty good priced too like 76$ they fit the tire pretty good too. they made my car handle alot better than the goodyear 185/70's that i had one before it that were bald.

ive got 205/60r13 dunlop gt qualifiers on my 13x7 american racing rims, ok tires. the smoke pretty good!. Gonna try 175/50r13 qualifiers next time, or possibly the toyo's.

 

I'm gonna try Sumitomo HTR 200s. 205/60-13s with an HR speed rating (130 MPH), and they're only $36.

...if they suck, how can I complain for only $36 each?
They're on tirerack.com, and there is not alot of info or buyer feedback about them like the others - leading me to believe that they might be new and are selling cheap as an introduction. But I dunno. They could've been around for awhile; just I never heard of them.

 

Yokohama 205/60/13 Best bang for the buck.

Sumitomo's came on my car when I bought it. The best thing I can say about them is it was a lot easier to get sideways through corners. You will learn how to control your car very well with those tires if you drive in the rain.

205/50 wynstar made like steel have good grip tall enough trade to go thourgh rain or snow and ran me 76 for the pair. And they smoke very easily.

Had nothing but awsome luck with Yokoma's directionals. They are cheap and great cornering tires at least from what I've seen. I usually try to get steel belts coming through before replacing to save cash. LOL. But seriously thats what I do. The day I see steel belts in one tire, I go straight to the tire shop no faster then 50mph and buy/order them quickly.

Don't you know what those are? Those are Traction Cords so that you have grip on ice even though the tires are bald

I try to replace tires when they're at 5-6/32nds... I can feel a big difference in wet traction at that point (even though it's only half worn) and also by that time the rubber is usually so dried out from heat cycling that they're not too good in the dry either.

 

im thinkin the 205/60's sumitomos for 36 are a steal. cant beat that in my book. less than 200 plus shipping is awesome. besides that the yokos are on back order from my preferred warehouse so id have to wait awhile unless i want pay an extra 20 bucks, which i dont. maybe they'll be in stock by feb cause thats when im lookin to buy.

 

I'm running some old- dry-rotted 205/60/13 yoko AVS's that came off my parts car and they still hold the road VERY well even in the rain. Jason

 

Simple 185-70R13 BF Goodrich Control T/A M80's did wonders to the rear end in the rain. Previously I was running on the DSPO's One Regul and one Kelly Charger.

 

I have Falken Ziex 205/60/13 and they work great in the rain. I have not hydroplaned once since I got these tires. You have to run them at about 40 to 44 psi thought.
I payed $42 a piece.

 

I would be interested in hearing a review once you get them on, I have heard and read many of complaints about wet traction (or lack there of) with the sumitomos. At $36, wow, pretty hard to pass up.

 

205 60 r13 regul sport challengers... $200 mounted and balanced. great in the dry (for being dirt cheap) suck in the rain or snow, and the tread still looks pretty new after 20,000 miles! god i wish they'd wear out so i can go ahead and get new rims/tires!

 

Had JUST put rear 215/50/13 Sumitomo HTR50's on the 7" wide wheels on my '79 when I popped the motor. I wanted SHORT gearing and little sidewall flex, and they were VERY cheap.

They felt comparable to the Yok509 205/60/13's that were worn out, and when combined with said 205/60/13 yok 509's on the front, it would JUST start to drift all 4 wheels under steady throttle. A little lift and it'd tuck in, a little throttle and it'd come out. Much more fun than my TII! It 3 and 2 wheeled a time or two as well. :-)

Now that I have another set of wheels, I think I'll run A032R's on the 7" wheels.... I played with a set about 245ish on 15" wheels on a Porsche 914. GRIP!!!

 

i have them,just make sure you get four of them,or your other tires that you dont change will look bigger.i like them,no complaints,love the squeal i get when i hit 2nd and 3rd.with the stock ones it just kinda made a woosh and would grip right away.

 

oh yeah not fun in the snow.but rx7's are made for snow like a boat is made for trips to the moon.
