turbo II rims on a first gen
turbo II rims on a first gen
someone is making a kit so that the turbo II rims will fit on the first gen.
I wonder what is involved in this conversion. I would imagine that swapping parts from a gsl-se would be easier to get a better bolt pattern. However, there are only 2 I have seen in town. As for 2 gen GXL's (5 bolt) and the 4 bolt 2 gen cars are much easier to find. Does someone know what needs to be changed?
Here look at this pic from the Canadian forum!

ummmmm....
Thats a whole brake upgrade not just the lugs and stuff. It would be much MUCH easier to bolt up the GSL-SE stuff. But it would not give you as large a brake or the 6 pot? or was it 4 pot? calipers.

Those are the 15" rims off of a GXL. I should know, I have one.
And yes, all 5-lug cars had four piston front calipers and vice-versa. The parts books list the same brake parts for all 4-pot brakes, too, so don't bother hunting down a T2 for parts if you can find a GXL easier.
Actually it's funny, the books list "soft suspension (4 lug)" and "hard suspension (5 lug)".
I've heard you can just swap the front crossmember and suspension entirely from FC to FB and the only problem is the front end sits too high, that could be solved with a RB lowering kit, the one where you cut out your strut towers and weld taller ones in. And to get the rear pattern, FCs have the same bolt pattern as 95% of the five lug Fords out there so when you do your Ford 9" swap out of an old Versailles (rear discs too!) you already have to correct bolt pattern.

Big wheels
Gentlemen, the wheels in the picture are GXL wheels and they are 15'. However the 16' turbo wheels are the same bolt pattern and also fit this car, and yep the gxl and t2 brakes are the same. This swap does include the 4 pot calipers. and big rotors etc.. I will have more info soon guys i am almost there. ciao
