I'm almost completely moved in to my new place, and what a fusking awesome commute I have now. In the Santa Cruz mountains, I start at the *** end of skyline, where it's one lane and super twisty. Then it's all the way up skyline to 84 and down the hill. 45 min, one stop sign, and two stoplights between home and work. The only freeway I see is 280 as I pass over it. And little to no traffic. Sorry to gloat, but it beats the hell out of my old commute. If one more SUV driving idiot tried to change lanes on top of me, I was going to start carrying a flamethrower.

 

can you beat a 5 minute drive to work? home for lunch everyday?

 

I used to have that, But the cheapest place 5 min from where I work sells for a low $1,5000,000.00, if you don't mind a fixer-upper. At least now, I get to burn up the twisties when there's nobody on them, instead of getting stuck behind a Winebago on the weekends. That, and I live next door to a winery with free tasting from 11-5.

 

Nice. we have free beer tasting here too. whoever visits me has to bring a 12-Pack.
