Replacing front hubs/wheel bearings on FD?

Searched. Didn't Find.

Anyone done this? Just curious how difficult it was to do. I'm considering having my front knuckles powder coated and replacing the wheel bearings afterward, but wanted to know how involved/difficult it was before I decided not to just touch them up with some POR-15 instead.

The front spindle and wheel bearing is all one piece. Remove the spindle nut and the whole thing comes off. It's a piece of cake.

it's held on by the hub nut bolt with tab from the nut and tightened to around 175ft/lbs.......yes my knuckles are still killing me trying to get that damn thing off.

Just knock off the dust cap, remove the wheel nut and slide the hub off the spindle?

So as far as replacement parts, do you need a new hub and dust cap per side, or do the new hubs come with the dust covers? They're already pre-packed with grease as well, aren't they?

That's what air tools are for.

It's a sad state of affairs for "mechanics" on this site when we need a write up to explain how to remove one nut

I bought my 35mm at AutoZone where it was called an "axle nut" socket. A 1 3/8" socket is perfect too though; it's only a .002 difference between that and 35mm.
