I just decided im ganna go with some 17" 5zigen FN01R-C rims in bronze for my white TII. If say ill be putting down 350hp to the ground do you guys think I should go with 255 tires in the back or stay with 245? I was talking to the sales guy today and he said the price would probably be around the same for either one. For the fronts I want to get 225 so I dont have rubbing issues. The sales guy was saying that with 255 in the back the rims would have to have an offset of like 43 and the front would be stock of 35. Do this sound right and what do you guys think about the sizes?

 

No, the sales guy is wrong.
I would go with around a +25 on a 9" wide rim if you're going 255 wide tires.
I dunno how a 9" +43 with a 255 wide tire will fit out back.

Are you sure about those offsets because to me it seems like the rears would need to be +25 and the fronts +35.

 

I have 275/35 Pirelli P7000s on the rear:

 

8" wide front with +25 works.
8" wide front with +27 or +28 is "ideal".

An 8" wide +35 is a very common size, and people have got them to work.
I think it's a bit too tight on the inside, but people says it works.
I'd rather see a +30 maximum offset though...

The 9" +35 with a 265 tire gotta be super tight in rear.
This might be the tightest you can go with fitment, and I'd rather see a +30 max offset in back for a set-up like that.

Remember, a +5 difference is like about 1/4" - it's not that much of a difference.
Tire manufacturers have different sidewall profile even with identical tire specs.

I know a 10.5" wide rear with a 295 tire with a +15 offset is the tightest you can go in the rear.
Extrapolating back to a 9" wide wheel, the offset becomes between +30 and +35.

Im looking at the offset caculator and I put in 7" +40mm as stock offset (i think thats right).

If I do 8" +30mm it says:
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 3mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 23mm

Then If i do 9" +25 it says:
The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 10mm LESS
The outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 40mm


How does that sound for fitment issues?

 

Yes, if you inspect the clearances on the stock wheels and tires (205/55/16), you have about 1/4" to 1/2" of clearance on the inside.
The same goes from the tire to the fender.
1/4" = about 6mm
1/2" = about 13mm

For the rears, you have even more clearance.
It's like 1" on the inside and 1.5" from the fender to the tire.
1" = about 25mm
1.5" = about 38mm

My recommended fitments tend to push the wheels more to the outside, as you can always roll the fenders.
It's easier to roll the fenders than worry about inside fitment clearances.

A 17x8 +35 will work up front with most any 225/45 tire, and alot of 235/40 brands. Thats what I am running. Like Ted said, it is tight, but it does clear. Out back I am running a 17x9 +40 right now, with 255/40 and they clear, but is close. Ive also run a 17x9 + 35 and you could fit a 265 on there, but I stuck with 255 just because I didnt want to have a huge difference between front and rear tire sizes.

 

dont know my off set, but i am running. 245/45/17 in the rear on momo sports and 235/40/17 in the front.

 

I put 308 to the ground and my 265s still can't hold it . . . they're max performance summer kumhos

i dont think you can fit too high an offset in back.
