we just picked up an 88' gxl for $500. not too bad but the tranny wont shift outta first and wont go into reverse (maybe lookin at a rebuild kit if u know where to get them that would help). also the car is from up north (iowa to b exact) the exhaust is gone from the cat back what is a good way to go? the car otherwise is in excellent shape minus a few door dings here and there. if u have any suggestion they are greatly appreciated !!

I wouldn't suggest trying to rebuild the tranny. It's not a very easy thing to do, and you can get a nice used tranny for ~$150.

Racing Beat has a good exhaust system. It all depends on what you want it to sound like, emissions, etc. There's a thread on this page somewhere about different exhaust videos. Check them out.
