Painting rear taillights
Painting rear taillights
I have read posts before where people say that painting them will not work and I never knew why. They say that you should tint them to make them look new agian. I found this car on ebay and it has its taillights painted the same color as the car so it must work. Now I dont like the way that looks but on a darker car I think it would look good.

why?!? it makes the rear end look so blah! not that you asked, but that is my 2 cents anways
just tint or clearcoat them. i have seen some great results that way.

O so he was talking about a whole taillight cover like RE Amemiya makes. Clearly not what is on the car in the picture. Like I said before I think it looks good just not on the silver. If you painted them black why wouldnt it look good? It would look the same as the tint right??
rotarynemesis,
If you like it, who cares. Do what you want to your own car.
My advice: If that's what you want to do, take it to a body shop and have them paint the lights for you. I can't imagine it running more than $100 and it will look better and last longer than just grabbing some spray paint from K-Mart.

it wouldnt look right because you would be able to tell that the black was painted over the top. it would be just as cheap or pretty close to have them sanded, polished, and clearcoated or tinted.
well maybe not as cheap if what you are going to do is take a can of krylon to them, but there are places that will restore your plastic lenses.
if you can't afford to have it done, meaning have some1 restore the lenses, go get a plastic polish from your autoparts. i got some meguairs plastic polish for some1 elses car and the outcome was pretty good (as a side note look for the polish in the motorcycle/specialty section)
just my 2 cents, like Mahjik said it is your car, you pay/payed for it, do what you feel is going to give you the best results.
