13b-re into FC question/s

I'm doing some research on the swap. What all needs to be done to do this swap? I have read a few things about the OMP not usable in this swap. any info would be useful.

A friend has just done this to his convertible.
The major difficulty is getting the engine mounted low enough, because the intake on the RE motor sits very high. You have to frontmount the intercooler and replace the water pump for the FC one for the same reason. If you do that then you need to use the FC pulleys.
OMP is the same as the 89-91 FC one, electric. You can change front cover and metering pump for the mechanical FC one, but you would need to fabricate a lever for the throttle body to pull the OMP control rod.
Primary fuel injectors are side feed with a plug like the 89-91 FC, so you need the plugs from their wiring harness if you didn't get one with the RE motor. Secondaries are the same as the late FC.
The convertible is righthand drive, so it wasn't possible to use the twin turbos, but he had a heavily modded FC turbo anyway. He used a Microtech LT8 to run fuel and ignition because it uses all the factory sensors.

I was lookin' into this swap... I was told by someone that an FD computer would control the 13B-RE's twin turbos just fine. Maybe he'll post some inf0z in a bit

It looks like a neat swap, though.

when i do the swap i am going to use fc3s.org mounts so clearance shouldn't be a problem. I wan't to use a S5 TII tranny, and i've read that one of the bolt holes doesn't line up would it hurt to not have it tightened at one spot?

It shouldn't, I know of guys who rebuild SR20DET's for Silvias and left off a bolt and it didn't hurt at all.

LIAR!!!! No, actually you can just swap the Cosmo WP pulley on to the FC pump. But the FC pump does/doesn't fit. I will but the twins mash against the bottom of the water pump.

The Twins side Up pipe also does NOT clear the hood by a long shot. Go with an FD y-pipe or twins. They are bigger any way. The intake y-pipe still requires hood cutting, or jacking the hood up at the back.

Generally harness is cut so stand alone it. its not too tough! Good luck, Mines almost done.
