R-12 (old freon) color?

Changing hoses for my A/C system...
The liquid that came out of my hose is a clear light brown. Is this right?

There is no color... Refrigerant is a colorless, odorless gas... There is, however, some oil circulated around with it to lube the compressor. It is a light brownish or sometimes yellow.

ya what Pele said. There should not be too much oil either.

Um if the oil is too dark, it could be indicitive of a larer problem with the A/C system.
