Question How do i check the OIL on my GSL-SE

When does everyone chech their oil? HOT?COLD in the morning. while the motors running?while its off?

I chech it in the morning and get a half reading(thinking the rest of it is in the cooler and some in the filter???. Then check it 20mins later after ive ran it and shut it off already. Then get a "FULL" reading(all the oil breaks up and is less dense so its sinks quick to the bottom of the pan??????. Which should i belive?

I dont leak oil so its not going anywhere. As far as burning TOO much oil I dont think it burns up more than normal.

I use Castrol GTX 20W50.

When's the best time to check it and how will i know what the real reading is.

I guess i just have to change the oil to really know how much is in there.

Best to check oil with the engine off but at operating temperature. An engine is hottest for about 20 mins after you shut it down, as the coolant is no longer circulating to take heat away.

Just be sure to change your oil & filter regularely. I change mine every 5,000 kms, which is probably one of the reasons the engine runs so strongly with almost 200,000 km on it.

Also remember to wipe of the dipstick and check it again.
