17" AND 18" rims. would it work?

just found a website that has some pretty nice rims that i like. but wondering if i could run 17x7.5's in the front and 18x8.5's in the rear. would that work or would it be a problem for whatever reason being that they're 2 different wheel diameters? these are going on an 87 turbo II by the way. and as for tire sizes, i don't have a clue what to run but i know i want some "low" profile tires. thanks for any info.

well what would you suggest i use as a search topic since 17 and 18 inch rims isn't a valid search topic? some useful info at least? heck, maybe a link to the topic since it's already been discussed? something better than just saying,"try searching," please....

how about... "inch" in the sus/tire/brake area... or "18x?" don't do 7.5's the rotary gods will laugh at you...

okay i did a search. came up with not much. found one link that i even replied to (that no one is responding to either) but it dealt with an fd, not an fc and i know the handling is different between the 2 cars.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=73428

now i'm just wondering why it's so hard to get an answer. jeese, i'm about ready to buy some rims but have to wait cause i don't know if i should buy them or not cause i don't know if they'll work. dunno if there's gonna be any handling problems etc.

with an awd car, different diameter rims will ruin your drive line. with this car, i dunno if there's gonna be any problems with the handling etc. or whatever other problems there could be. would someone mind giving me a legitimate answer and stop with the b.s. answer like "try using search." if you don't know the answer then don't bother posting anything. thanks!

Im not a pro on thius subject, but i do know alot of people have the "stagered" rim sizes without problems. I planned on going that route.
Minimum size for the tires is 8.5 wide, or else you run the risk of being struck by lightning or something worse

No, different diamter tires will ruin the awd driveline. What matters is the diameter of the tread; you could easily run different wheel sizes as long as you take the sidewall profile of the tire into account. The larger wheel would have to run a lower profile tire.

As for your question if you are already running different wheel widths front and rear I see no reason not to use different wheel diameters either as you won't be able to rotate the tires between front and rear anyway.

it's for an fc. i did state it was an 87. as for the wheels themselves, they look fine to me. what kinda rims do you use?

Just PM me and I'll go over the pros and cons to staggered diameter.

no disrespect, but i don't think rishie will have wheels in the $100 each range, unless they're used...
