20B Oil Filler Steel housing needed

I just found out my newly rebuilt motor didn't get all of the water out of it from flushing the coolant passages last summer and it blew out the steel housing for the oil neck this winter when it froze. We pulled the oil pan and took a look with a boroscope to make sure. It looks as if only one spot was busted through so the rebuild will be "easy" at least unless we find some other major issues.

To say the least I'm totally depressed about this...

My question is:
- can I use a 13B steel housing in place for the 20B? (I doubt it but I figured it was worth a try)

- where can I get a replacement piece? Mazdacomp?

Thanks everyone.

If it is the one with the oil filler neck, Yeah you should be able to use a 13B one.. I belive the only 20B specific peice is really the thick intermediate housing in the front. Hell even the housings are the same, just some are stamped with 20B and some with 13B.

And if not mazdacomp does sell them. but I am 99.9% sure a 13B one will work.

The reason I ask is I happen to have a spare set of steel housings from an '87 NA and I was hoping I could use that one piece but wasn't sure about the e-shaft issues, if any.

I don't think the 13B rotor housings are identical as I thought the exhaust ports were much smaller. Separate topic though.

RETed...could you help answer that question please if that one part is interchangeable?

Never tried to swap it myself, but from the outside, there are two larger tension bolts from the rear.&nbsp I'm not too sure if you need larger holes for these positions?&nbsp I wouldn't think any of the water and oil passages would be much different.&nbsp The stat gear and bearing are surely different.

Yeah they're not exactly the same...but 20B housings are likely derived from 13B housings. Has anyone else noticed that you can move studs arounds on the front cover to bolt up *either* the FC or FD power steering and A/C bracket? The holes are there, just not used...
