i need some advice 300z or tII or 3rd gen

I need some help here! I have a 91 na. I love rx7's alot and I want to keep with them, but I am trying to find a tII that is in good shape and in michigan they are hard to come by. So I have been looking online and cant find $hit! There are a few but not anything great. I know the 89-91's are faster than the 86-88 but the 88TII is easy to find around here for some reason. So I was wondering if it is worth it to get an 88 or if I should buy a 3rd gen or a 91-96 300zx TT? Please help me out!

dont get the 300z...youll kick urself. sure theres tons of parts available, and easy to get in the 12s. but its HARD As hell to work on!! trust me.

the nissan dealership wont even perform maintanence on my friends Z cuz its so complicated. the cost to repair would probablye 10% part, and 90% for the labor. if you drop a socket...chances are, it aint fallin to the ground, and NOT cuz of the windage tray under the engine.

get an 89-91 T2. i like that model better cuz of the exteriour styling and the engine build. that and they have a computer that stores error codes so itll be easier to chase down the gremlins, and the AFM is more apt to make power w/ than the 86-88 like ive got.

the guy i know w/ the 300z, hes a REAL mechanic. he can work on anything and actually knows what hes doin. hes like the head mechanic at our local import shop. and hes got an SCCA solo prepped Eagle talon, turbo duster, and the Z...and hes selling the z cuz he doesnt wanna work on it, and not even the Nissan dealer will work on it...trust me. go mazda.

thanks for all the advice man. I do like the 89-91 TII's but they are just so damn hard to come buy around here. If you know anyone who wants to sell one please let me know!!! I am willing to go almost anywhere to get one! by the way what do you have?

if you can just buy an 87-88 t2 body or 89-91 t2 body, you can get jspec 89-91 t2 engines from cork sport for 950 dollars, they come with the intake and exhaust manifold's and turbo, and they include the harness and partial loom, you would just need the ECU, im puttin the 89-91 t2 engine in my 86 rebuilding the engine in that one and putting it along with a 5spd in my auto rx7

why not rebuild yourself?? get the atkins rotary engine rebuild tape and one of their rebuild kits shouldnt cost over 1k for the rebuild, maybe just a tad over

japperformanc.com has some specials goin on right now w/ some GTX engine/trans/computer combos. not bad prices i guess. im not sure if they are priced in austrialian dollars, or us dollars...or if theres even a diff.

Me...im stuck w/ an 88 SE coupe, 5 speed, NA. its crimson red, sunroof. Huge K&N cone filter, NGK platinum, electric fan conversion, enrichend fuel mixture, accel super stock 8.8mm wires, currently running ONE gutted pre-cat, no exhaust, race pedals, bad *** stereo. custom underbody lighting, DIY clear tail lights.

Well I dont have that great of experience with them, I know a few guys that would help me do it, but would you think that having it proffesionally done be the best way to go? I was considering sending it to pettit but they wanted 3000 so after hearing that I made this post. Also what kind of break in time are we talking for the rebuild?

i would say to do the rebuild yourself, you will take more care than most mechanics because its your car and you will be driving it, i dont know the proper break in as ive heard 3 stories about how to break in properly, ask RETed he will know, break in mileage is 1500 i think.

I just had my engine rebuilt and was told to follow this break in:
500 Miles under 3000rpm, oil change
1000 miles oil change, 100rpm increase every 100 miles
2000mile oil change
then follow regular schedule

I have noticed that the more I drive the car the better it gets as far as power and feel.I have 5000 on the rebuild now.Ive noticed its planed out at about 5000 miles.
I would also advise taking it easy for a few hundred miles just to be sure everything remains tight.
