Haha, Id love to know myself. I just under-took this project a couple days ago myself. I have done the rear quater panels with a fair amount of sucess. Ive just been pulling and peeling with my fingernails and a friends help. Its taken a LONG time just to do what I have so far.

Oh yeah...DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE GASKET REMOVER!!! I have a bad fender (dented from an accident) that I use to test products that say "test on incinspicuous area" on. That way, if it screws anything up, the fender is so screwed it doesnt matter. Anyway, the gasket remover took the rubber off like a charm...But it also took the paint with it. I pulled the rubber off, and wiped it down with a shop rag. Suddenly, my shop rag was white, and the paint was REALLY thin where I just wiped it. Thin to the point you can see the metal through the paint. It didnt even soak in. It just sat there for maybe 20 seconds while I was working with it. Anyway, no loos cause as I said before, the fender is dented and the paint chipped so its rusted too. I planned on pulling it off, stripping it, and primering it until I can get a new one, along with a little section of my door where a door ding got out of control.

PS - The rubber stip is held on REALLY well in some areas, and on my bad fender it actually took paint chips off with it so it looks like there are rock chips or something. That could just be because the paint was messed on that fender anyway, I dont know. Fair warning

.Its held on with a type of double sided tape.
Theres the cars body, a strip of tape, and then the rubber is stuck to the tape. Taking the rubber off is easy. Getting the tape off the body, ISINT.

Oh yeah, I just had a revalation...
I started this on my 83 GSL (shown above) because a section of mine came off of my 85 GSL all by itself when I had a leaking gas cap. Thats how I found out that its seperate from the lights. I also found out later when I pulled it off my 83 GSL that there are no body pins that hold it on anywhere. No holes to fill
. Anyway, I would go around corners, the gas would slosh, leak out frum under the cap, and run down the side of my car. The gas took the rubber strip off in a matter of a day or two until I figured out that my cap was leaking and thats why I had gas marks down the side of my car. The gas doesnt seem to have affected the paint, so you may be able to use gas (or similar) to disolve the adhesive

Is there any way to flatten out the marker light? It looks like it stick out kinda far with the side moldings removed...
Perhaps side markers will fit form a different car?

Its 3m double sided tape, you local auto paint supply store will have something for it. I bought some of it (forget the name) poured it on the top of the molding let it sit for a minute, and went pull , the whole thing came off w/o any trouble what so ever...

When i detailed we used to have to take stupis stuff people put on their trade ins all the time. and that tape comes off hella easy if you leave your car in the sun all day if its like 70+ that day or just use a heat gun or hair dryer.. will work mericals. or pinstripe remover would work great. its just a big eraser on a wheel you put it on an air tool and it spinns really fast its fun to fu(k around with just don't burn the paint

I'm goint to repaint mine in the spring and this is useful info as I'll be pulling stuff like this off to paint. Whether I'll put them back on has yet to be decided. Probably won't.
Has anyone priced new ones in the VB catalog? Almost makes you wanna sell your old ones hella expensive, lol. I could get rich doing that if people would really pay that much for them...Go to junk yard, remove, buy, re sell, repeate...

The way to remove rhese is heat...est to use a heat gun, if you have any friends that build Radio Controled air craft they may well have one. These guys use the gun to shrink the plastic film on the planes...Hair drier not really hot enough.ed
