honda rims on a 7???

well i have been looking for rims for my 7 for awhile now(4x110) and i was talkin to this freind that is into hondas well what he propose to me was buying these spoon rims that he has on his car for $400. im getting tempted but the only thing is that of course they wont fit my car but i could redrill them with my bolt pattern. my question is how strong will the rim be after? how ridiculous would i be putting spoons on my beloved mazda? another thing is that these rims are flat black and my car is silverish/blue i forgot the color code. well any comments would be appreciated, thanks...

robert

p.s.sorry for the long post,

p.s.s. by the way they are 15x7 i think, and they are light as hell

The offset will be wrong anyway.

As RevHed sed, the offset is wrong. You can't just slap FWD rims on a RWD car and expect them to work based only on bolt pattern.

Offset has nothing to do with diameter or width of the rim, but how close to the outside (or inside) of the wheel the hub is.

Picture a motorhome or heavy-duty pickup truck with dualies, f'rinstance. in order to make the same wheel shape fit on the vehicle 6 times, they make a rim that has the hub right along the outside (or insode, depending which wheel) of the rim. The front wheels have the hub sticking out in plain sight, whereas the outer rear tire has it recessed waaay inside there.

That's offset.

yea, they probably won't work, but spoon rims are sweet and that would be cool if they work.

If they're real spoons, you wouldn't want to redrill them anyway since it would compromise their strength.

You can mod your suspension. If they are actual spoon rims, and you love them with all of your heart and soul and they look feckin' cool do it!!! You can always have your hubs fabbed and stuff.

A 7" wide wheel is the widest you can put on a stock bodied FB, without any tire/wheel rub.

I would get your front rotors and rear axles welded up and have a machine shop drill a new bolt pattern in them. They do it in streetrods and drag cars all the time.
