What would be a decent price for these? Does anyone else curerntly sell them out of 321 stainless so people can build thier own manifolds/headers? Seems that the waterjet time is going to be sort of expensive and wanted to know a good price range to see if its worth having them made.

noone makes a flange in 321 that i know of..

Fish around,see what its worth to people.. I would think if it fits, is thick (3/8"MIN) and doesn't look hacked or flame cut you should be able to get a decent amount ($450ish) for them.

While your at it, look into making turbo flanges out of same material, for various turbos, maybe sell a "kit" with a couple of u bends, and wg, turbo, and engine flanges

Im pretty sure you arent going to sell enough of them to get rich, not enough people want to custom fab a turbo kit.. Maybe enough to help offset your project costs

 

Well I was thinking of selling them made out of 1/2" actually. Along with T04 flanges out of the same material to fill up space to not waste the material. I don't want to get rich but having access to a waterjet makes it easier for me to make them than have poor souls trying to cut them out themselves which would well.....be a nightmare. I guess ill see if i can make 10 or so to see if I can unload em. Anyone else have an idea on what they would be worth. I can get high polish or brushed look 321 but after welding its not gonna be to polished anyways.

I paid $400 for my 3/8" 321 laser cut manifold flange on my Neon.. I imagine the price will be similar, adding extra thickness instead of the length the 4-cylinder manifold was

 

The Racing Beat 13B header flange is mild steel, but it's very durable. Supposedly they're making their headers out of SS now, probably 321. So they may be selling SS flanges in the near future. I have a manifold made out of 321 SS, but I used the mild steel flange: $18, as opposed to $ALOT.

 

I've got a drawing and a place to get a quote. I'll post a price if you want to compare.

 

That would be great Tyson. I will at least get one round made due to needing one myself in the future to get rid of my HKS cast divided.

I had a 4G63 flange made out of 321 and it was a lot cheaper than what these guys are quoting. Email me or PM me and I will see what I can do for you.

 

Use carbon steel for your flanges and buy 321SS from Burns Stainless. They could also quote SS flanges, but you shouldn't need that unless your car is a show car.

 

The only thing I intend to show is my taillights But I still don't want rusty flanges. Does 321 expand under heat as badly as cheaper stainless? I know I should just look it up, but I'm too lazy right now.

It looks like 321 is a little better (less thermal expansion) than 304, but not by much.

Well it seems that 321 is about double the price for a sheet of 4'x8'x1/2". The lady is still finding an Inconel price for me. I guess we shall see the price of it. I have enough money to start the project with 321 but need more interest I think.

Hmm I can get the stainless 321 for like 1200 for a 4'x8'x1/2". To damn bad the waterjet costs so much to run

Well, at $18 a piece to cut 20, the price may go down to $15 a piece if you cut 80. I figure you can put about 80 on that 4' X 8' sheet, plus maybe have enough left for a turbo flange for each. So we've got $15 each (material) plus $15 each (waterjet). Can anyone find a home for 80 exhaust flanges at $30 a piece? The alloy supplier I talked to today said they don't have 321 and would have to import it from the US. (I live in Canada)

I am assuming your getting them laser cut? I gotta look around for a place around here instead of waterjet. It is going to be like double that for waterjet cutting. I will look around.

No, that's waterjet. It's in the name of the company even.

 

I guess I need to cuss and deal with them some more and not get charged so much. Problem is punching out an entire 4'x8' sheet is gonna tie up the waterjet for like 8 hrs lol. I wonder if I can hire them for a Saturday. With the price they are quoting I still could sell them for $80 - $100 shipped. I will see what I can do as far as costs.

those prices are crazy!!! And 321 is overkill. You could use mild steel for flanges.. The tubing is where you could use 321 but for the price difference your better off with 304. 304 Stainless Flanges should not be more then $25 in quantities.
