Quite a few companies make aftermarket power antennas. Harada, Hirshman, Autowerks, etc.

The factory antenna is made by Harada... and in most cases can be repaired or replaced

Circuit City sells several that should work. They can even install them for a slightly higher fee.

I replaced mine with a Radio Shack power antenna, about $45-50. It fits very well, using the factory braket (simply needing to be flipped, using one less screw). If you're using the factory stereo, you'll have to install a bypass switch or simply find a switched 12V lead (which will raise and lower the antenna with the ignition is on/off).

Reception is good, and I've had no problems.

You can get a new factory antenna mast for like $20-30, take apart the antenna motor and dig all the guts out, then feed in the new one. It's a REALLY easy job.

I think Mazdatrix has some info on it on their site.

btw - if your stock antenna motor works - but the antenna doesn't raise and/or lower - you can just replace the antenna core itself for $25. Your local mazda has the antenna core.

The motors rarely go bad - they're pretty hardy. The antenna replaces everything that goes up and down - the metal mast, the nylon cord inside, etc.
