I want to pass air care this time what should i do so i pass?

Well I am going for another air care test this thursday, I am getting my plugs changed again and will be replacing my fuel filter, I failed air care with just a downpipe with a shitty aftermarket exhaust, now what can i do to pass the test? The other thing is i think I am running rich, because my exhaust burns if you put your hand up close to the fumes, any thing i can do to fix that?

tried it all!

I have tried it all. Replaced plugs, fuel filter, plug wires, air filter, injector cleaner, changed oil, changed coolant, checked compression, heated up the car by driving on the hwy for 1/2 hour.

It still did not pass Illinois dyno testing. I am trying to get a wavier from the EPA. Based on the Mazda tech, he thinks we can do this. He even took it personally to the air test site and could not get it to pass. He said all the systems were working within specs. I even had the both catalytic converters on!

The other option is after 10 years to pursue show car status with your insurance company. I am looking into that too.

If you are lucky enough to have a programmable ECU such as HALTECH you may be able to lean out and tune down the boost. I do not have that set up.

Some have suggested running 25% ethanol mix in the gas? I have not tried that.

If you are rich remove the air cleaner for the test , do the other tricks also. Try to borrow a piggy back ecu to tune for the test .
