Hawk HPS Inconsistancy

Ok I just attepted to put on my Hawk HPS rear pads on my FD and then took a closer look and one was different than the others. Three of the pads had beveled leading and trailing edges and a space between the friction material in the center. However, the 4th one was flat no bevels no spaces. All 4 had the exact same part number. Did Hawk change the pad design in the past. I reluctantly reinstalled the stock pads on the new rear rotors until I can get this straitend out. My thougts were that the amount of braking force would have to differ from the different pad design so I did not install and plan on calling the selling company and try to get this problem fixed. I guess I need to pay closer attention when I open boxes from now on since they have been sitting on my bedroom floor for 2 weeks. Any advice for reinstalling them after I get this straitened out or should I just burnish them as directed.

pad manufacturers often offer race pads in various combinations as long as the backing plate and compound are the same you can just take a die grinder and slot and bevel it match the others....if you don't want to deal with the returning exhange thing. as far as bedding them in, a lot of people achually prefer to bed pads and rotors seperatley for example bed rotors on bedded pads and vise versa. the hps's really shouldn't be very hard to bed do to there heat range. just put them in and bring them up to temp by progressivley braking harder and longer 3-5 times from say 80 down to 10 and cruise for a couple of minutes to cool them off and your good to go.

I do not have a die grinder or dremel to do that kinda of modification so looks like its going to have to be exchanged

Return them, they're probably not the same pad.
