We have began tear down of the freeze damaged engine from our FD. It froze to death on the trailer ride home from ECR last February.

This was a great engine that made it four races since its last rebuild. Some of the parts have been in many races! In fact, the rotors were the same 200,000 mile rotors we used in our very first LeMons race!

In NA form this engine made 210 rear wheel hp in the RX2. The car was rolled several times and then the engine was transplanted into the FD with the addition of a Chinese turbo. In turbo form it made 331 hp to the wheels and survived three more LeMons races (one of them a 24 hour event)!

Upon first inspection of the engine, it was found to have a blown rear freeze plug and a shattered water pump housing. These were replaced but the engine would only run on one rotor and oil would shoot out the dipstick and all over everything / anyone nearby.

After teardown of the engine here is what we found:

Side seals chewed off. One apex seal was jammed in the groove and bent.

SO, anyone out there have a set of S4 rotors? Turbo or NA. LeMony prices please.

 

Are you using drilling mud for coolant in that engine?

 

You don't?

 

I really, really need a usable S4 rotor (turbo or NA). Anyone have one hanging around?

 

Do you need 1 or 2? I may have a s4 NA laying around.

 

Really we only need one but I have a pair that should be here in a couple days.

 

I do have an S4 NA, but it needs a new bearing. Let me know if you're still interested.

If you gotta go Rotary, we are debuting the REPU at ECR for that race. It will have an S4 T2 drivetrain but handle like a 40 year old REPU thats been sitting in a field for a decade - so there's that.

If we had enough interest, help, and cash we could field the FC or FD too. Maybe. We would need more than just an arrive and drive to make a second entry possible. Really would need some hands turning wrenches and cash.

Lol yeah would love to drive with u guys minus the billion laps they penalize u with every year!

 

We've only been penalized that one time out of over 20 entries.

They wanted to give us some laps and I said they should at least make it interesting. SO - they gave us the record number of laps ever handed down - one billion and seven.

 

Let me know if u eve need another driver...I also have been getting experience as a small time race team manager and I am willing to do the dirty work as well...
