EFI 26B 4 Rotor Engine Project (Here we GO!)
Well its been in the mist of planning since last year 2007. And after my partner and i finished building a sucssesful race car powered by one of CLR Motorsports Elite 13B race set-ups last year. It was contemplated what would be our next step. The idea of building a 20B P-port Motor for the next season crossed our minds but I wanted to take it a step further. After brain storming between Big Al, Carlos Lopez and myself. It was decided that we were gona have to go above and beyond to now build an engine that even the big Heads at Mazda USA will want to inquire about. The engine Project will be headed and put together by Carlos Lopez from CLR Motorsports and Fabrications will be done by Big Al from BMF Racing and last but not least Porting, Funding and the not so clean stuff well be left to me. LOL I will keep pictures of the progress posted as we move on but i can tell you that this will be a long process. i would hope to have this project completed by next year but both time and money will tell the final tale.

Looks like this will be one crazy build up.
One question, why are using the 13B GSL-SE Housings? Is there a particular reason you want the coolant seals in the housings rather than the irons?
Also, isnt the chroming on those older housings inferior to, say, a S5 or FD housing?

Yea the Fd chrome is superior. It's really hard to tell what kind of coating Mazda is putting on the older 13d GSL-SE housings now since Mazda has updated the part number a few times. I'm pretty sure the latest versions of those housings have a far better coating than the original ones. Either way worrying about the flaking shouldn't be an issue till you reach the 100k range. I don't think rob20rx7 is going to be putting that many miles on his 4rotor.

That makes quite a bit of sense. I feel kind of dumb not even considering that these are NEW housings and Mazda might have used NEW technology (or at least newer)! The fact that there is such a price difference still makes me a bit skeptical though. Youd think that becuase of the relatively low demand (because there just arent that many GSL-SEs), that the price would be higher if all else was equal. Its not like it really matters anyways. Those housings are going to do the job just fine and Im sure that thing will scream!
