12 Hours at the Point

Anybody going? A buddy of mine got an entry, so if I can scrape enough cash together I'll go. It's actually funny: everything he doesn't have (spares, canopies, gas jugs) I've got.

Hmmm... maybe that's why he was so excited about me running with him...

Anyway, check in here if you're driving/crewing/spectating. I'll probably go either way, since there are several guys going from this area, so catching a ride up wouldn't be too tricky. If I drive I'll probably bring a trailer with a spare car and plenty of other spares (corners, tranny, etc.).

I'm not even sure I'm driving and I'll still giddy as hell! I had so much fun during our 6 hour down here I can't wait to do some more of that ****!

"Will race for parts" :-)

I crewed for an IT7 team running the 13 hour enduro at VIR.

A spare tranny is probably a good bet. Towards the end of the race we lost 1st&2nd gear (made pitting interesting) and we were praying the tranny would hold together for the last 3 hours (it did! :-)

The other team we were sharing pit space with (also IT7) got tagged by a Spec-Piniata and broke the rear end. They had to drive to the shop 1+ hour away to get a new one. They got back out on the track, but because they were out so long they didn't have enough laps to qualify for a finish. :-(

Good luck at the race!

I figure I'll bring everything I usually do, plus some more stuff. Hadn't thought about bringing a rearend, but we could swap that almost as quick as tires, so I may have to throw the spare in the trailer...

Some of you guys may know the car if you're around the Northeast. It's a checkered flag scheme ITA RX7, #7. I painted the car, so no badmouthing that.

I figured I'd bring a metric ****-ton of Miata parts too -- seems like a good time to make a decent chunk of change. "Oh, nobody else has got a spare tranny? $400!"

Half the entries are SM/SSM's (at least they were last year). With how rough those guys play, you probably could make money selling them parts.
