Hey so I recently bought a 87 rx7 with a s5 motor halfway being swapped in. So I looked around the car and it seems like the PO was tryig to put in the s5 motor with the s5 timing cover so I'm guessing he was trying to convert everything to a s5 including electronics. So the ecu is from a 89-91 cali emissions, and the wiring engine harness is also a s5. So exactly what else do I need to get this fc on the road? I know I need the s5 gauge cluster, cluster cover, radio/cluster gauge dash wiring harness, s5 AFM.and I'll be blocking off the OMP soon. So what else would I need? Oh and the idiot light and cover. Also a quick question, would a 91 gauge cluster dash wiring harness work on a 89 or 90 manual, non convertible rx7?

you can't use the s5 ECU if you plan to do that IF you block off the OMP.
the OMP needs to be part of the electrical system or the car Automatically will go into LIMP MODE.

All in all,your best bet,in my opinion, would be to make the Keg up as an S4 and use the parts associated with that.
That way you can run the engine as an S4 and use the S4 ECU..(and have the choice to block the OMP off without consequence.)

Ok but the s5 is already in the bay with the s5 timing cover on. And the s5 ecu and Main body harness is all ready plugged in and layed out in the car. Same as the s5 engine harness. So Id really like to keep it s5 so I can have the rpm redline at 9000 and have the faster cpu for the proper engine. So basically I was wondering what else I'd need besides s5 AFM, s5 dash harness, s5 gauge cluster, cluster cover, s5 idiot light and idiot cover. I already have the s5 motor in with the s5 timing cover, s5 engine harness, s5 ecu and main harness. What else do I need to do this full swap?

is there any way to wire up the s5 engine with the s5 timing cover? I'm really not trying to take the engine out just to change the timing cover. id rather buy the rest of the s5 parts that i need to get her running then try to make the s5 run with the s4 parts at the moment.
