Midwest Mazda RX7's - New Group!
Hey guys,
I'm a MN native and after talking to a few guys here we decided to make a new Facebook group for local rotary enthusiasts. It's titled "Midwest Mazda RX7's" if you want to check it out on Facebook and feel free to ask to join! I am the creator, with a good friend of mine as another moderator right now.
Description:
"This is a group for the Midwestern Mazda RX-7 owners where we can all come together and help with builds, trade/sell parts and eventually have meets. Sometimes it feels like there aren't very many other Rotor Heads in the area and this group is meant to prove that wrong. Let's all make this a positive, great group to be a part of that shares important knowledge and help to each other."
I figured I'd start a new thread here to add some interest and new members to the group. Doesn't hurt to add some publicity to the largest site with the most dedicated RX7 owners!
I'd also like to make this thread a 7Club public place for those who don't have Facebook (cough, cough, needpartsnow ) in order for us to contact anyone subscribed here for meets and such in the future.
Thanks guys,
Austin

Haha yeah I did! Who told you that? I'm gonna guess Daryl or Tanner maybe?
1984 Red/Gray GS 12a Auto with 70,800mi on it. Original owner had it up to a few months ago, I say that I'm the second owner. Interior is very nice, exterior needs some serious work. Getting resprayed this winter with some body work to make it nice again.

Yeah the auto is no fun (haven't driven it yet, I just know) but there are two manual transmissions sitting behind the car in the garage waiting to get swapped in. I'll come out a much nicer car next spring than what it is right now.
I'll post a pic here of what I want it to look similar to, but in red:
Glass sunroof
Tinted windows
Shaved marker lights
Deleted side moulding
3-piece IMSA wing painted to match body
Lowered on coilovers or drop springs
I'm pretty sure those are 16's
I want to do all this but in the FD VR color code. Should be a slick looking car once completed I think. That's mostly just body work and finding the right wheels to complete the car. Suspension is getting all redone and it'll be a looker for sure.

OMG a Chupacabra!

I didn't actually buy it, someone wanted to trade it for an Audi Wagon I had and daily drove for 8 months. It lost compression in cylinders two and three due to the oil control rings going out so it sat for about a month on Craigslist. Long story short, I found him in another MN car group wanting to trade this 7 and he delivered it to my house on a trailer and took the Audi! So it just kind of fell into my lap and i took it, simple as that. Oh you troll! Haha yes it actually does
The moonroof (I don't know what to call it - solid, painted, one-piece, colored, non-see-through, non-glass thing where a glass sunroof should be) will be nice. I always messed with mine and took it off or propped it up. The sunroof thing is a big deal to me, the fiance could care less about that. She just likes having working A/C and I'm not gonna say I don't want it in there - because I do! And the A/C will be really nice in the summer. I know it doesn't get too terrible here like it does down south but it'll still be nice on those muggy days for sure. I know it detracts from power and adds weight and blah blah blah, but if I want to auto-x or something I'll just take the A/C belt off to prevent any power deduction
I've just learned over time that if the fiance (soon to be wife) is happy then I'm much happier in the end...always

Thanks man, I hope it works out well too! I'm gonna start a build thread for it soon so I can keep all my ideas in one place and location. That TII swap one held the key to everything I did to the car over the time I was swapping it. Have a ton of views and posts on that one too. The next one I'm not sure what the title will be, has to be catchy enough that people will stop and actually click on it to read about it. Will have "Red" in the title I think, I'm still debating.
It won't be a crazy build at first. Just enough to get it looking clean and proper, be as reliable as I can make it and become a great cruiser. After I trudge through the body work and paint this winter it'll be getting torn 100% apart to clean everything up on the car. I want it to be as close to a show car as I can get it. It'll stay 12a this year then once it progresses it will be getting something else...
I assume you're going single on the FD or something? Maybe the V8 itch that's overcome so many RX7 people in the area lately...
