New From Japan
Hey all,
I am currently living in Japan, just bought a 1992 (JDM) Mazda RX-7. I love it and I hope to bring it back to the states with me. I hope to learn a lot from this club so I can improve my cars performance. I previously owned a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE back when I was living in the states. I joined a club and I learned a lot on how to work/ improve my overall cars performance. So with that note, Thank you for letting me join your club!

im sure u can take it back if ur willin to shell out the cash but i wouldnt recommend it. i was in japan for 4 yrs n its not worth the pain. ur better off just takin ur parts n buildin another 7 wen u get back to the states. were in japan u at?

If he were to try it wouldn't register as a valid vin number so no one would insure it.
Now what I would do is swap the internals into a shell that way its still a legit car but that's just me.
See if you can find one person that has successfully imported a JDM car stateside legally, either they swapped vins which is highly illegal or they are really well connected.

To make it street legal you have to put down deposit of 150% of the vehicles value
-that alone will put the cost of importing a JDM vehicle equivalent to buying a
very nice USDM vehicle
You must meet safety standards of FMVSS which involves modifying your now very expensive JDM car.
-Making even more expensive
You must pass emissions unless its over 20 years old
- with a USDM rotary vehicle its hard enough to pass emissions good luck passing emissions
It must be purchased from a registered Importer
- Nhtsa has a list of registered importers
That is just the beginning to get it registered let alone driving it on the streets its just easier and cheaper to buy a USDM vehicle
