Question i need help wiring the stock tach....

i have an E8 and can't figure out what wires to hook up for the tach, speedo, and fuel level.

i looked through the whole electrical section (fsm) a million times.
so confusing....!!
can someone please help??

i know the stock rpm signal is from the ign.(2 pulse per rev) but i have to figure out what wire and plug under the passenger dash.
pix would be great but not necessary.

You didnt say what this was, FD, FC? The tacho wire comes from the trailing coil pack, its a yellow/blue wire on the FCs. speedo wire comes directly from the speed sensor, and the fuel level too. There must be several websites all over the net with factory wiring digrams that have this information, heck, the speedo and the fuel level should work without doing anything, unless of course, this is an FD and some rewiring is needed.

yup

it's an fd.
i need to know what wire from the gauge cluster.
trust me...i've looked through the fsm so many times...
i'm gonna try again right now....
if i can't figure it out, i'm gonna post a bump or sumthin.

p.s. ls1 coils
no idea why speedo and fuel don't work.....
i know they run directly to the gauge...
tranny to speedo
and fuel sending unit to gauge
i was hoping someone else went through this too so it's not just my car.
thanx as always for the help claudio

Yeah, ive seen this before, i dont remember exactly what the solution was, but i do know that sometimes the wire do run through the ECU, but its an easy fix, try PM'ing Crispeed, i believe he can tell you the wires you need.

Ill check my files and let you know, i think i have it.

Make sure you ground the black wire on your dash harness.

I had some problems with my oil presure when it wasn't grounded then that fixed it. The fuel should not have been altered so makes me think it needs to be grounded.

The FD tach is really easy to hook up. If grounding the wire doesn't help I have the wire/color pins from a site yet.

ya.

my oil pressure would jump all the way up when the key was being turned.

Both oil press and fuel level are independant of the old wiring harness and was solved with grounding the wire for guage cluster.

You need to connect the Light Green (1H) wire to the Yellow Blue wire (2B) for the tach. You should have 2 wires from the light green. One for the haltech and one for the Yellow blue wire (tach).

No.
For an FC, it's easier.
You don't mess with anything.
