cold start problem

Remember that fun thread awhile back? Thought I'd run by my absurd RX7 situation to you guys and make someone laugh. I've been banging my head trying to get my cold start maps figured out with my Haltech....they're still no better....the thing will NOT start when it's any cooler than 70 degrees out....tried a block heater to avoid the cool temps in the meantime...that didn't warm up my engine so here it goes...

You know you're an RX7 owner if you buy a damn SPACE HEATER to place under your hood to raise your air and coolant temps just so your car will start.

Wow. Glad I found a temporary way around this, but this it NUTS. I hafta run a cord from my house, place my space heater under the hood and let it warm up for an hour or two. I got the coolant temp up to a nice warm 93 and the air was 108 both from the mid-60s pretty quick so it seem to work ok. Gotta love these cars though...unbelievably moody but unstoppable also. Don't think I'm idiotic..obviously I need this fixed (FYI I had a nice $600 tuning session this summer so I do not neglect this thing at all...dynod 303 WHP with bolt ons and the Haltech!).... that was at stock boost and actually since then it started making 15 psi for no apparent reason so it's got more than 303 now.... it just doesn't start that's all LOL.

thats ridiculous..

So basically you can't drive your car any where and let it sit for any amount of time
with out risking getting stranged and etc..

Im sure many people here in the ECU sections have alot of experiences with Haltech.
Go to the section and ask if someone can help you with your situation..

or sell your haltech and buy a new one.. or something else a little more consumer friendly.

goodluck

Retitled and moved to correct forum.

What does your tuner have to say?

That's prety much true. Just since summer ended though. I'm quite aware how ridiculous this is.

Yeah...thanks, I've already been doing this..I was just posting this as a comical piece at this point....

k thanks rynberg...i wasn't meaning to put it in the wrong section....i've already been asking for help in the ECU section....just thought I'd post it as a reference to that funny "you know you drive an RX7 if..." thread from awhile back.....just thought I had a new very stupid example of that that people might find retarded....

My tuner seems lazy re: cold start maps...he had it tuned great for performance but doesn't seem to want to be bothered with the tedious task of messing with the cold start problems...i know it's tedious and basically know HOW it should be done step by step, but I just can't even get a proper start on it....we'll see....for now I'm just glad I can run it to at least get it to the shop.....
